Karla Madera Tejada

Karla Madera Tejada serves as the Undergraduate Policy Intern at the Im/migrant Well-Being Scholar Collaborative, where she aids in synthesizing and translating complex academic research produced by the Cisneros Institute and the Collaborative’s affiliated researchers. Prior to this, Karla held a federal policy internship with the Hispanic Federation, where she worked alongside various nonprofit organizations to champion policies aimed at advancing the interests of Latino communities. Karla then interned with her congresswoman on Capitol Hill, where she gained valuable insights into the federal legislative process and actively attended briefings addressing critical immigration and Latino-related issues. In the Summer of 2023, Karla served as the Press Intern for the House of Representatives Democratic Caucus through the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s prestigious summer internship program. This experience deepened her involvement in matters affecting the Latino community and further enhanced her understanding of the inner workings of Capitol Hill. Currently, Karla is a Senior at the George Washington University, pursuing a double major in Political Science and Criminal Justice.
